Copyright & Takedown Process

HTMLGame respects the intellectual property of game developers and creators. If you believe content on our site infringes your copyright, this page explains how to notify us.

Our Approach

HTMLGame embeds games from licensed distribution partners such as GameDistribution, HTMLGames and itch.io. We do not host game files on our own servers; we display officially licensed embeds. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement in line with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar applicable laws.

Filing a Takedown Notice

To file a copyright infringement notification, send a written communication to hello@htmlgame.cc with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Notice". Your notice must include the following information (per 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)):

  • Identification of the work — a description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed (or, if multiple works, a representative list).
  • Identification of the material — the exact URL(s) on htmlgame.cc where the allegedly infringing content is located.
  • Contact details — your full name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  • Good-faith statement — a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • Accuracy statement — a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Physical or electronic signature — a signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.

What Happens Next

Once we receive a valid notice, we will promptly review it and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the identified material. We may also notify the affected distribution partner. You will receive a confirmation once action has been taken.

Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed in error or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification by emailing hello@htmlgame.cc with the subject "DMCA Counter-Notification". It must include:

  • The specific URL(s) of the material that was removed or disabled.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled due to mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material within 10–14 business days unless we first receive notice that the original complainant has filed a court action.

Repeat Infringers

In accordance with the DMCA, we maintain a policy of terminating access for users or partners who are determined to be repeat infringers. Distribution partners found repeatedly providing infringing content may be removed from our catalogue.

Before You File

Please confirm that the content is genuinely infringing and that you own or represent the rights to the work. Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be subject to liability. When in doubt, consider contacting the original distribution partner directly first.
